A.L.I.V.E. Animal Services Group is an all-volunteer based 501 c3 non-profit, animal advocacy organization. We exist to extend hope, help, and health to animals in need that would otherwise perish without our intervention. We have saved the lives of thousands of animals here in Southern West Virginia and our surrounding areas. We rely solely on donations and the generosity of others to accomplish our goals. One hundred percent of donations are used for animals in need. Every life matters!
Thank you Beckley Area Foundation - God’s Creatures Fund
We have been working on some big changes at our sanctuary “Safe Haven” thanks to the Beckley Area Foundation - God’s Creatures Fund. We took on the task, with their help, to make some desperately needed updates electrical, flooring and heating. The Safe Facility is at least 20 years old and has never had any upgrades. The outlets and lighting were showing dire signs of needing replaced. We had an incident with a heater that proved changes had to be made asap. Thankfully the outlets worked, shutdown and there was no fire. Nothing worse then continuously worrying if something may happen. So we got a plan to replace the heaters to cat safe economical heaters, replaced 80% of the light and outlets throughout the Safe Homestead. We had a certified electrician look at what needed replaced. Thankfully the wiring was fine but the outlets were outdated and the light switches were falling apart. We also had to replace the flooring, as it was cracking and creating holes it was so old. When we pulled the floors we only found 1 section that some sub-flooring had to be repaired and replaced. Thankfully no mold! In addition, we did some spring cleaning, replaced a couple of ceiling fans to safer ones. Painted a lot and replaced trim with the flooring. We are also adding some fire/carbon monoxide detectors as the old ones were 20 years old and electrical. After seeing the scary situation today I am so thankful to know we have a SAFE, clean and healthy environment for the furkids that call SAFE home. We could not do this without all the amazing people and groups who help us make their lives more enriched and safe and help us to continue to grow. We are hoping to add a protected outside area for them this spring so stay tuned! Thank you to the volunteers Misty, Leisa, Elizabeth, Jeff, Jeffery and my dad who made this possible. I so wish Kathy could see this come to life we had so many plans. The many faces that call Safe home thank you for your kindness, support, compassion and generosity that made this possible!!!
